About
Unknown Works is an independent production company built for stories that don’t behave. We make films that live in the in-between — intimate, off-center, and emotionally honest. The kind that stay with you longer than you expect.
Welcome to the unknown.
Ian Carroll
Ian is an executive and creative producer, as well as an award-winning writer, with a sharp eye for storytelling and a deep understanding of production from the ground up. Born in West Virginia and raised in East Tennessee, he began his formal training in theatre and film at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, later continuing in the BFA program at Florida State University.
Ian is a hybrid-creative EP—equally comfortable in the scoping phase as he is on set or in post-production. He brings a grounded, hands-on approach to every project, with a proven ability to direct top-tier talent and guide complex productions to a polished final product. His passion lies in high-visibility, high-impact work that demands both artistic vision and logistical finesse.
He has recently worked on award-winning campaigns such as PARKINSEX for the APDA, NF1-PN for Springworks Therapeutics, and the Cannes Silver Lion-winning AIRQUITY project for EarSwitch. His portfolio also includes high-budget, large-scope work for major clients such as Argenx, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Amgen, ViiV, and the COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS.
Whether overseeing sprawling sets during live events, or shepherding intricate, high-touch videos through post-production, Ian thrives in fast-moving environments where detail, communication, and creative trust are key. A natural collaborator, Ian is known for his ability to translate the unique “languages” of high-level creatives, ensuring their visions are not just heard—but fully realized.
